Outside Lands 2017Location: San Francisco, CA • 22 Aug
Srathardforlife was selected as one of the bloggers to cover the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco, CA. We were so honored to be able to attend the festival as media and have Carly share her experience with you.
A little over a week ago, I attended Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California. The festival is probably the largest music festival I have ever attended, and it was my first trip to SF. If you’ve ever been to SF then you know it can get pretty chilly. The temperature changes drastically throughout the day so it is important to dress in layers. I decided to wear my favorite ripped black jeans, a black choker tank, and an amazing rocker black denim jacket from Brunch Babe. I accessorized with my white Converse, a classic black fedora, and mirrored circle sunglasses. My new fringe backpack (similar here) was perfect for carrying all of my belongings and an extra sweater just in case it got chilly.
The lineup at Outside Lands was simply incredible. Metallica, The Who, Lorde, Gorillaz, Cage the Elephant, Empire of the Sun, The Avett Brothers, Vance Joy, Schoolboy Q… the list goes on and on. I had the opportunity to see one of my favorite bands, The Avett Brothers, and they were just as incredible live as I thought they would be. Two more of my favorites were Cage the Elephant and Empire of the Sun. The icing on the cake though was getting to see Metallica. I’m still dreaming about it.
Not only were there four main stages, but there were different “lands” to visit; including Wine Lands, Cheese Lands, Chocolate Lands, Bacon Land, and Chocolate Land. Wine Lands was one of the most unique parts of the festival. California does not have a shortage of wineries, so it was awesome to be able to visit multiple wineries all under one tent. I even got to visit Marietta Cellars, one of my all time favorite wineries. After having a few pours of wine it was time to eat. I decided to try out the glazed donut burger… Yes, you read that right: a burger patty in between two glazed donuts. Gastro Magic was another awesome part of the festival where attendees had the opportunity to explore different types of cuisine and beverages from the San Francisco area. Oh, and right next to it is Bacon Lands… enough said.
Outside Lands was probably the most unique music festival I have ever attended. It has everything you could ever imagine. I will definitely be going again next year. If you’re planning to go to Outside Lands make sure to get there early so you can get a spot up close to see your favorite band. The crowds are huge but that’s what makes it so fun! Don’t forget to layer and wear comfy shoes so you can experience all of the incredible artists and attractions that the festival has to offer.
