Blue Apron

Lately, all the SH4L gals (including myself) have become obsessed with Blue Apron. We love how fresh ingredients are conveniently delivered to our doorstep every week and how delicious all of the meals are. If you’ve been dying to try Blue Apron, now is your chance! For a limited time only, Blue Apron is letting us offer all of our followers and readers 3 FREE Meals for one week when you register here. Yes, you heard me right– 3 FREE MEALS!! Hip Hip Hooray!

All of the recipes are really easy to make in under 40 minutes, which is great if you’re crunched for time. The number of calories per meal is 500-700 calories, which is lower than most entree dishes on a restaurant menu. Plus, there’s no commitment–you can cancel at any time.

Be sure to check out Stacy’s review of Blue Apron from last week here.

Blue Apron

This week, I invited 3 friends over for  dinner, so they could try Blue Apron and see what all the buzz is about for themselves. We each sampled 1/2 a portion each (I signed up for the 2 person plan) of two of my Blue Apron meals. Our favorite of the two meals was the the cod sandwiches with caper aioli and endive salad. The cod sandwich was also topped with one of my favorite veggies, kale or as I like to say “kale ya” haha. The sweetness of the kale really brought out the flavor of the caper aioli and both together created a nice balance between sweet and salty.

The second dish we each tried was the spiced beef skewers with roasted squash and garlic rice. The dipping sauce (similar to a yogurt) complimented the spices in the beef and reminded me a lot of Turkish and Lebanese food. At first, I was hesitant of the squash because it seemed odd to pair it with spiced beef, a yogurt like dipping sauce, and garlic rice. I was quite surprised how well the squash went with the other items in this dish.

Here’s some food for thought regarding food: I guess you’ll never know unless you try it for yourself.

As a foodie, I have been very impressed with Blue Apron so far and would highly recommend it. Thanks Blue Apron for making my life a lot easier. It’s been nice not having to run to the grocery store to figure out what to make for dinner.
