48 Hours in Charleston

A weekend itinerary14 Nov

I just can’t get enough of Charleston. With its balmy weather and amazing food scene– the Holy City is where it’s at.

Last weekend I surprised my boyfriend with a trip to our favorite city for his birthday. We arrived, weekender bags in tow, at one of Charleston’s best boutique hotels: The Restoration.

We were greeted with a warm southern welcome and immediately fell in love with the cozy, modern aesthetic. We took a spin through the property and marveled at the rooftop views from The Watch, their signature restaurant and bar. We arrived just in time for brunch and spent the afternoon sipping mimosas and enjoying the sunshine.

Our Signature King Suite was nothing short of extravagant (and huge!). The Restoration was originally constructed as condos and then converted to a hotel several years ago. The exposed brick, dreamy linens, and out-of-this-world bathroom were definitely my favorite features.

The Restoration’s in-house coffee shop, the Rise coffee bar, was another amazing amenity. They even served us breakfast in bed via picnic basket! Not a bad way to start your morning.

Of course our trip wouldn’t have been complete without a sunset sailboat cruise. The Schooner Pride took us on a little tour of the Charleston harbor as we sipped Westbrook beer and enjoyed the salty fall breeze. The sunset views were a perfect foray into our indulgent weekend.

If I could sum up our meals in one phrase, it would be “oyster overload”. We dined at both the Ordinary and 167 Raw over the weekend. Do yourself a favor and reserve a table at these spots. The lobster roll at 176 Raw was melt-in-your-mouth magical and the oyster selection at the Ordinary was one of the best in the city.

It was so hard to say goodbye to Charleston on Sunday after a bike ride through the battery, but knowing we’ll be back in December for the Garden and Gun Jubilee definitely made things a little bit easier.

Till next time, Chucktown.
