The Ritz-Carlton, BerlinLocation: Potsdamer Platz 3, 10785 Berlin, Germany • 25 Jan
My boyfriend, Tyler and I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin. Our stay was far above exceptional—our room, service, and dining experience was phenomenal. We loved our stay so much we didn’t want to checkout! In case you should ever find yourself in Berlin, take a few minutes to see just how amazing The Ritz-Carlton is!
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company LLC strives for perfection among its 91 hotels worldwide with superior service, perfectly decorated rooms, amazing food, and more. It should not come as a surprise that The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin is an award-winning five star hotel that has received many prestigious awards such as Mixology Bar Awards for Hotel Bar of the Year 2015 (The Curtain Club) and Travel + Leisure’s 2013 World’s Best Awards as the #1 Top Large City Hotel in Europe, just to name a few.
The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin is a stunning 303-room hotel whose interior design was created by Cologne-based Peter Silling and inspired by renowned architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The location alone was pretty fabulous, with views of Potsdamer Platz in Berlin’s trendy neighborhood, Mitte. The hotel was even in walking distance of all the Berlin hot spots, including the Mall of Berlin, several museums, and dozens of top-rated restaurants, like the two-star Michelin Restaurant, Facil. It was easy to explore the city and enjoy Berlin since we were so close to everything!
As soon as we walked through the door to our room, our jaws dropped. It was absolutely gorgeous! The room was adorned with traditional European décor with wood and marble furnishings along with neoclassical touches of columns in the foyer. We had more than enough space with a sitting room, half bath, bedroom, walk-in closet, and full bathroom. Our room was even equipped with a smart control system where you could control the lights and other electronic functions without even getting up. This made it nearly impossible to get out of our comfortable bed in the morning! The sitting room was perfect for winding down and relaxing every afternoon before going out to dinner. One of my favorite parts of the room was the mahogany wood walk-in closet—it was heavenly. The full bathroom and half bath were decked out in marble. It was nice having a double vanity sink in the full bathroom when Tyler and I were getting ready to go out each day. Our room even overlooked a gorgeous courtyard—a perfect view to wake up to each morning.
Breakfast at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin is served every morning “buffet style” at the hotel’s restaurant, Desbrosses. Lots of culinary tastes are incorporated into the typical European continental breakfast of bread, meats, and cheese to waffles and freshly made omelettes. How cute is this old car outside the restaurant?
I wish we were able to spend more days at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin, so we could have enjoyed some of the lavish amenities that they had to offer, including spa services, an indoor pool, and gym. The whimsical light fixtures and blue tile of the indoor pool reminded me of Van Gogh’s painting, “Starry Night.” The staircase leading up to the ballrooms felt like a dream with marble stairs and a wrought iron siding topped with a gold railing. The ballrooms would be exquisite for a wedding or even hosting a conference for work.
If you love a good cocktail before going out to dinner like I do, then The Curtain Club at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin is a must-go! The Curtain Club’s impressive presentation of their delicious, specialty cocktails was unlike any experience I’ve ever had. Tyler was on a mission to order every specialty cocktail that he could during our stay at the hotel. Upon my request for a fruity cocktail, the friendly bartenders also created their own drink concoctions that were to die for!
I knew we were in good hands as soon as I booked our room and received an email asking if there were any requests or questions we had to make our stay enjoyable before checking in. Prior to checking into the hotel, I made several dinner reservations with the concierge, who was so helpful in telling me the best Christmas markets and restaurants to go to while we were in Berlin. We arrived to the hotel before check-in at 9:30 AM, and we were so impressed that our room was immediately ready for us to settle in and unpack before we started exploring.
The entire hotel staff was very friendly as well, and you could truly tell that every employee wanted our stay to be memorable. It meant a lot to me that the hotel staff even offered to take pictures of Tyler and me together in front of their Christmas tree before we went to dinner each night.
Hands down, Tyler and I highly recommend staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay—from enjoying the lively atmosphere at The Curtain Club to the impeccable service. The Ritz-Carlton Berlin exceeded our expectations in every way.
